How Espresso works

A rollup's authorized sequencer(s) sends blocks of transactions to Espresso.

Espresso validators confirm blocks in ~6 seconds (subsecond confirmations on roadmap)

A protocol-level restriction ensures only Espresso-confirmed blocks will settle on any other L1 (e.g., Ethereum) with a bridge to the rollup.

The Espresso-confirmed block is available within seconds, offering a reliable view of that rollup’s final state.

Other chains, solver networks, messaging protocols, exchanges, etc., read from Espresso to gain real-time visibility into the state of integrated chains, improving interoperability.
